Girls' Football Section

The development of girls’ football at Garswood FC has been one of the club’s most positive and rewarding areas of growth in recent years.

What began a couple of seasons ago with a Girls’ Wildcats squad at Under 6s has created strong local demand and a clear pathway for girls to engage with football in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

This growth has led to the formation of a team at several age groups including u7, u8, and two u12 girls teams, all of whom currently compete in the Warrington Girls Football League on Sundays.

All home fixtures are played across our grass pitch venues at Garswood Football Club, Tom Nugent Playing Fields at Birch Grove, and Garswood Recreation Ground, ensuring access to suitable local facilities and maintaining a strong community presence.

Looking ahead, Garswood FC aims to build on this momentum by working closely with County FA and National FA initiatives to make girls’ football more accessible within the local area.

Our ambition for the 2026/27 season is to expand provision further by establishing at least one all-girls squad at Under 9, 10 or Under 11s, strengthening the early-stage pathway and supporting long-term participation. The club is also exploring opportunities to add an open age women’s team.

In terms of future progression the club is committed to investing in targeted promotion, coaching development, and workforce support to enable this growth of the women’s game. By expanding all-girls provision and increasing visibility within the community, Garswood FC aims to encourage more girls and women to take part in football, ensuring the continued growth of the girls’ game and reinforcing the club’s role as an inclusive, community-focused organisation at the heart of local football.
